John Romaka serves as Chief Revenue Officer for Covenant House Texas, where he leads the organization’s comprehensive fundraising and advancement strategy in support of young people experiencing homelessness and trafficking. His responsibilities include major gifts, institutional giving, corporate partnerships, special events, donor stewardship, board engagement, development operations, marketing collaboration and community engagement.

John joined Covenant House Texas with extensive experience in nonprofit fundraising, organizational leadership and revenue development. Before joining Covenant House Texas, he served as Senior Director of Development for The Salvation Army of Greater Houston, where he led fundraising strategy and helped strengthen major giving, institutional partnerships, digital fundraising and donor engagement.

Throughout his career, John has built his work around one fundamental belief: fundraising begins with relationships. He is passionate about connecting donors, corporations, foundations, volunteers and community leaders with opportunities to create measurable and lasting impact. His leadership approach combines relationship-building with disciplined strategy, clear expectations, meaningful performance measures and shared accountability.

At Covenant House Texas, John is building an integrated development operation in which major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, events, volunteers, communications and donor stewardship work together as one coordinated effort. He is committed to strengthening the organization’s fundraising infrastructure, expanding its community of supporters and ensuring every donor understands the life-changing impact of their generosity.

John believes development is about much more than raising money. It is about inviting people into a mission, earning their trust and giving them an opportunity to help young people move from homelessness and uncertainty toward safety, independence and hope.
